Pure Sequence

Pure Sequence meaning in Yono Rummy

A pure sequence is three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, made without using a joker as a substitute.

Pure sequence cards laid on green felt during a practice round

Short answer: 5♥–6♥–7♥ is pure. 5♥–Joker–7♥ is not pure because the joker replaces the missing 6♥. In standard 13-card Indian Rummy, a valid declaration needs at least one pure sequence and a second sequence.

Valid and invalid examples

Valid pure5♥ 6♥ 7♥

Consecutive ranks, one suit, no substitute joker.

Valid longer pure9♣ 10♣ J♣ Q♣

Four consecutive clubs also make one pure sequence.

Not pure5♥ Joker 7♥

This can be an impure sequence, but it cannot satisfy the pure-sequence requirement.

Next, compare pure vs impure sequence, check how a joker works in a sequence, then use the valid declaration checklist.
