Can one card count in both a set and a sequence?
No—each physical card belongs to one declared group only.
Direct answer
No. One physical card cannot complete both a set and a sequence in the same Yono Rummy declaration. If 7♥ could join 6♥-7♥-8♥ and also 7♣-7♦-7♥, you must assign it to one group. The other group needs a separate physical card or a permitted Joker. Count every card exactly once.
One Seven, two possible homes
The middle 7♥ is useful in either lane, but it cannot be placed in both at declaration. Choose the grouping that leaves the rest of the 13-card hand valid.
Why the card cannot be shared
A declared hand is a partition: the 13 physical cards are divided into separate melds. Sharing one card would make the group totals add to more than 13 and leave the table unable to reproduce the declaration. The same printed rank and suit on another deck is a different physical card, but one copy cannot stand in two places.
Automatic Sort may visually place neighbouring possibilities close together. That layout is only a suggestion. Until you drag or assign the cards into distinct groups, 7♥ may be a candidate for two plans; once you declare, it must have one home.
How to choose the better group
- Protect the pure sequence requirement first. If 6♥-7♥-8♥ is your only pure sequence, do not break it casually.
- Check whether the set can use another natural Seven of a different suit or a permitted Joker.
- Check whether the sequence can be extended with 5♥ or 9♥, freeing the shared Seven only if a separate valid run remains.
- Lay out all groups and count 13 physical cards exactly once.
- Reject any layout in which one visual card or identifier appears twice.

Can two identical 7♥ cards be used in two groups?
Yes if two decks produced two separate physical copies and each copy is assigned once. One copy cannot be duplicated.
Does Sort decide which group owns the card?
No. Sort helps organise possibilities; the final declared grouping and room validation decide the assignment.
