Ace, face card and Joker points in Yono Rummy
Learn the card values before reading the result screen.
Direct answer
Under common Indian Rummy scoring, Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten are worth 10 points each. Number cards Two through Nine use their printed face value, and Jokers are worth zero points. These values usually matter for unmatched or invalidly grouped cards; cards inside accepted melds do not add their face value as a penalty.
Standard card-value table
- Ace
- 10 points, whether used low in A-2-3 or high in Q-K-A.
- K, Q, J, 10
- 10 points each. A face card never counts as 11, 12 or 13 in this scoring method.
- 2 through 9
- Printed value: a Seven is 7 points and a Three is 3 points.
- Printed or wild Joker
- 0 points when the room recognises the card as a Joker.
Point value and sequence rank are separate ideas. Ace can sit at an allowed end of a sequence, but its scoring value remains 10 when it is unmatched.
Worked example: 29 unmatched points
Suppose the room is counting these cards because they are outside accepted sequences or sets:
The arithmetic is 10 + 10 + 7 + 2 + 0 = 29 points. Do not add rank position: King is 10, not 13. Do not add a Joker’s printed artwork as a number.
How to audit a score screen
- Separate accepted melds from unmatched or invalid groups.
- List every counted physical card once; do not count one card in two failed groups.
- Assign 10 to A/K/Q/J/10, face value to 2-9 and zero to recognised Jokers.
- Add the values and compare the result with the app’s displayed breakdown.
- If the result differs, check declaration penalties, score caps, dropped-hand rules and whether the room rejected a group.

What can vary by app or house rule
A platform may cap a hand’s penalty, apply a fixed invalid-declaration value, score a drop differently or use its own tournament total. Those layers do not change the basic card-value table, but they can change the final number shown. Read the room rules and score breakdown before reporting an error.
